Animation BFA

Program Purpose

The Animation major is intended to provide students with the skill sets necessary for success in the animation, live-action special effects, and gaming industries with emphasis on both the artistic and technological avenues. The Computer Science animation emphasis gives students the opportunity to learn both the technical and artistic side of creating and implementing digital animation and games, preparing them for technical careers with animation and game programming studios. Coursework in the program demands a sound understanding of design, composition, and storytelling and the ability to learn the current software used in the industry. Program majors are taught the fundamentals of a comprehensive art education and gain a broad perspective of the visual arts, with studies in art studio, art history, aesthetics, criticism, design, narrative construction, and visual culture.
