BYU Learning Outcomes

Learning outcomes express what students should become while completing a course or program. Distinctively BYU learning outcomes articulate how the university’s Mission and Aims are thoughtfully integrated into the student learning experience. At their best, they are clear, meaningful, and aligned with essential learning: they guide teaching, shape assessment, and help faculty and students focus on the purposes of a BYU education.

To see the expected learning outcomes for any major, select the college and then the department and program.

BYU Program Stewardship

Program Stewardship is BYU’s annual process for strengthening academic programs through purposeful, evidence-informed reflection and action. At its best, Program Stewardship helps faculty and program leaders consider student learning, the learning environment, and how the program adapts over time in meaningful, forward-looking ways. More than a check-the-box activity, it fosters a culture of evidence-based progress while also supporting accreditation and university review.

Program coordinators access the program stewardship web app by logging into learningoutcomes.byu.edu and navigating to the program page.
