Religious Education (University Core)
The Doctrinal Foundations and Religious Electives aim to help students develop a greater appreciation for theirs and others' lives through the intentional development of a personal relationship with God and man. The program facilitates faith-promoting opportunities and experiences that help the students develop reverence and respect for the life, mission, and teachings of Jesus Christ and his humble disciples-both inside and outside His Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It helps them develop Christ-centered communication and leadership skills necessary to invite the Spirit's guidance in their approach to their personal missions and ambitions, obstacles, and doubts.
Students who apply themselves to gospel-centered living throughout the course of their studies at Brigham Young University will experience an augmented understanding and perspective that will help them realize their divine nature and the fruits thereof, and progress toward eternal life. Our program seeks to help through providing development opportunities in the following areas:
- Eternal vision and perspective,
- Christ-centered study-skills and behaviors,
- Source evaluation,
- Christ-centered teaching skills and behaviors,
- Christ-centered service and character development, and
- Writing and oral presentation skills.
