National International Student Teaching Program
Program Purpose
The National and International Student Teaching Program allows you to complete your student teaching in a Washington, D.C., or Houston, Texas, school district. This Christ-centered experience deepens your faith while preparing you to serve in diverse educational settings. You will learn to see each student as a child of God, shaping a perspective that transforms how you teach and connect with others.
In challenging and unfamiliar environments, you will rely more fully on the Savior and strengthen your testimony as you witness His influence in your work and interactions. This experience fosters both professional and spiritual growth, bringing meaning to the words: "People want to know Christ because they know you."
Upon completing this student teaching experience, you will:
-
Obtain the same Utah State teaching license as you would through a traditional student teaching placement in Utah.
-
Fulfill all requirements for your specific teaching major.
-
Engage with diverse classrooms and communities, learning to bridge differences and bring light through Christ-centered service.
As an ambassador of BYU, you will exemplify the teachings of the Savior through both word and action, representing the Church and its values with faith, integrity, and love. This program is open to all education majors, with limited exceptions in special education and secondary education. You can apply when submitting your student teaching application.
